The past year has made one thing clear: communication is more important than ever. Like you, our days are filled with online meetings, or becoming teachers for our own children, or just figuring out how to manage basic needs like getting food and paying rent. Through it all, we have remained resilient by staying connected to each other.

Back in March, HSDC became a virtual service provider almost overnight. It wasn’t easy and it wasn’t elegant, but our staff truly cares about the community we serve. My heart fills when I think about the people we have partnered with, such as:

• Deaf community members who can participate in virtual meetings with the ASL interpreters that we provide.
• Seniors who are able to engage in a phone call with their grandkids because we’ve repaired their hearing aid and given them tips for making the phone accessible.
• Our early education staff going the extra mile to involve entire families, making sure that everybody in the household is healthy and secure.
• Children receiving speech therapy online, so that their language foundation isn’t interrupted during their primary growth years.

While we have worked to keep HSDC’s services running, we are one of the many community organizations who have been impacted financially by the coronavirus pandemic. That’s why your support is more important than ever.
